Two-Factor Authentication is Mandatory November 26!

November 16, 2018

Dear Campus Community,

We're now less than two weeks away from mandatory Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Monday, November 26. To date, nearly 1/3 of the campus community has enrolled in 2FA and is already enjoying increased account protection. As an added bonus, early adopters have been practicing the new authentication process daily, so the transition to mandatory 2FA will be a simple one for them.

What happens if I don't enroll ahead of time?

As of November 26, you will not be able to access any protected service until you enroll in 2FA and authenticate successfully.

When you return to campus on the Monday after Thanksgiving break, 2FA will be mandatory for all students, faculty, and staff. The first time you attempt to log in to a protected service (email, Box, CatCourses, etc), you will automatically be redirected to a 2FA enrollment page.

Though we've worked hard to make the enrollment process an easy one, some users will inevitably need some extra assistance from our OIT experts and may be inconvenienced or encounter delays while they wait.

OIT is anticipating heavy enrollment activity and long lines at our Service Desk on the first days of mandatory Two-Factor Authentication. I'd encourage each of you to enroll before leaving campus for the holiday break to avoid any problems when you return to your work on Monday.

Sincerely,
Ann Kovalchick
